Guiding Principles
Dreams & Fears
What do I dream of? What am I afraid of?
- I dream of being one of those people in their 60s and 70s skiing down a mountain
- I am afraid of not being able to walk down the street on my own
- I am afraid of losing my memory and recollection of my loved ones
Reality
What are fundamental ideas that grounds this value?
- I want to maximize play
- I focus on healthspan
- I appreciate healthy competition
Value Alignment
In order for dreams to become reality, our actions need to (slowly) pave the road. What are small, concrete actions I can take and affirmations I can remind myself of?
Play
- I have fun playing handball comes before arguing about a right/wrong call
- I focus on the calming sensory experience in nature while snowboarding over my technique
- I take deep breaths in the sauna
Healthspan
- I want be able to enjoy (reasonably) physically-demanding and fun activities for as long as possible
- I want to look as young as I feel
Competition
- I seek strong and inviting handball players to play good games with
- I take every fall as a lesson to improve my snowboarding
