Crafts live at the intersection of art and science — they are creative yet methodological, sporatic yet iterative, fun yet serious. When done with balance and presence, these are my infinite games.
Guiding Principles
Dreams & Fears
What do I dream of? What am I afraid of?
Reality
What are fundamental truths/ideas that ground this value?
- Competition: “…encourages us to work harder, push beyond perceived barriers and strive to be our best. It motivates us, giving us a tangible target to set our sights on. Often, competition extends the boundaries of what we think we are capable of. Healthy competition also teaches us how it feels to lose.” (Source)
- Play: “Leisure is the absence of the concept of work altogether. Leisure is what happens in the spaces where you’re neither “actively working” nor “not actively working.” And as work becomes more total, leisure becomes more difficult to access. This is a problem, because not only is leisure where all of the rest of your life happens, away from work; it also provides the spaciousness necessary to surface things that really matter. “
Value Alignment
In order for dreams to become reality, our actions need to pave the road. What are concrete examples of actions that tangibly move the needle.
